Setting up the business, putting processes in place, meeting regulation requirements… joining any franchise network can feel like an overwhelming experience.

But when you become part of the Blossom family, that needn’t be the case.

With years and years of experience in helping ambitious entrepreneurs like you to create a thriving home care business, we’re on hand to support you at each and every step of your journey.

Central to this is our dedicated support team, led by franchise support manager, Kyle Thorpe.

Passionate about ensuring every franchisee achieves exceptional standards and success, Kyle plays a pivotal role in establishing new franchises. He will guide you through the entire setup journey, including the all-important registration process with the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

To help you get to know someone you will be working closely with as a Blossom franchisee, we caught up with Kyle for this in-depth Q&A.

In it, Kyle shares insights into his professional background, what his role at Blossom entails, and how you can expect to benefit from his expert guidance.

Hi, Kyle! Can you start by sharing your background in the care sector?
Of course. I started when I was offered a volunteer position in a college in London for adults with autism while I was still studying for my final university exams.

As soon as my exams were over, I was then offered a role in the college as a vocational training officer. I remained with that college for 10 years, working my way up to the position of deputy manager.

I was then offered an opportunity with the same company to relocate up north to become the Registered Manager of a residential care home for adults with autism and challenging behaviour.

Eventually I joined Blossom in March 2023, initially as the Registered Manager of the Malton branch.

What’s your role at Blossom now?
My current role is area and franchise support manager.

This means I am responsible for supporting the two managers in both our York and Malton offices, as well as supporting the wider franchise network as a whole.

This involves developing and delivering management training, troubleshooting any issues that the franchise group are having, supporting with Registered Manager recruitment for new franchises, and supporting those new franchises through the CQC registration processes.

Why do you enjoy working for Blossom?
The thing that first struck me when I joined Blossom was the quality of the care itself; the carers I have worked with from the start have been nothing short of exceptional. They do not hesitate to go above and beyond and really see this job as a vocation.

It continues to be a pleasure to work with those individuals and to now support the managers in ensuring that those exceptionally high standards are maintained, and that the services across the franchise network continue to develop to exceed those expectations.

What do you enjoy most about working with the franchisees?
I am really enjoying having a leading role in supporting the initial setup of new franchises. It is great to work with such a varied group of people, with a wide array of strengths and experiences, to set up what I have no doubt will be successful Blossom franchises.

It affords me the responsibility of setting the standards and the expectations from the start and again ensuring that those expected high standards are met from day one.

I also really enjoy developing and delivering training. We are currently working on an overhaul of the franchisee journey, a big part of which is the franchisee training. I feel the changes and updates that are currently being worked on are going to really enhance franchisee experience and even better support them through their journey with Blossom.

What have you enjoyed most so far in your role?
I have enjoyed the variety so far. I have responsibilities as an area manager that relate to HR, finance, compliance and system management.

And as franchise support manager, I am engaging with new franchisees, supporting them through the initial stages of their journey with Blossom, registering new services, supporting the employment of Registered Managers and troubleshooting issues that are impacting the wider franchise group.

I have learnt so much already and I continue to learn on a daily basis. No two days are the same and I absolutely love that.

What do you see your future like with Blossom?
I will continue to support the establishment of new offices around the country, and support the continual development of those services with the ultimate aim of doing my part to establish Blossom as the most successful and highly regarded domiciliary home care franchise in the UK.

When we have achieved that target, I would then be looking to do all I can to support Blossom to establish itself internationally.

How have you found your fellow Blossom team members to work with?
The team I have had from the start of my own journey with Blossom has been exceptional.

The wide range of skills and experience the teams can bring to different situations is the main reason why we are building such a highly regarded, successful franchise network across the UK.

We have a director who is able to identify skills in each individual incredibly quickly, and to rapidly establish those individuals in roles that complement their skills. The progression and development opportunities that this affords both on an individual level, and a franchise-wide level, underpins the success of the business.

Lastly, what would you say to someone looking to take on a Blossom Home Care franchise?
Firstly, that the Blossom brand is built on quality – which is evident from the carers on the ground through to the franchise directors and support network that is in place.

Taking on a Blossom franchise would give you access to this support network, the quality of which simply isn’t offered by other home care franchises.

This support does not stop with you as the franchisee either, as we also continually support your Registered Managers to manage the growth and development of the service.

No matter what your starting point or what your aspirations are, you can rest assured we will be there with you from day one to support you every step of the way, from initial registration with the CQC through to managing a multi-million pound Blossom Home Care franchise.

And lastly, I am really looking forward to working with you!
